Ruffled laptop sleeve

Since giving up my job to become a stay-at-home mom, I haven’t had much opportunity to travel with my laptop. Now, though, I am secretary for a local volunteer association, and use my computer to take notes. The cloth bag I was using to carry my new, larger, laptop just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Enter my new laptop sleeve!

The fabric was a generic brand from my stash, and I used Char’s tutorial on her awesome blog, Crap I’ve Made. Just a note, I’ve yet to see any crap! Case in point, this sleeve is lined, padded, zippered and embellished.

I found curving the zipper around the corners was a little fiddly because my zipper was a tad short, but otherwise, this was an easy project that I whipped up in about an hour and a half, just in time to take to a workshop this morning. Yay for simplicity!

My husband thinks the ruffled embellishment is goofy (especially since I goofed and made it off centre), but I like it, and think I’ll probably add a flower pin or something like Char did with hers.

P.S.  Don’t forget there’s still four days to enter my very first giveaway!

  6. I love this! I really need to learn how to sew. I got a sewing machine for my birthday - 2 months ago - and it's still in the box. Shameful, I know!

  8. Hey I saw you made this sleeve and I was trying to make my own sleeve following her tutorial and i get confused right at the part where she pins the lining to the front of the exterior. I sewed both my interior pieces(right sides facing eachother) right along the zipper, because I thought that was what Char did, but it does not seem right since both the interior pieces are sewed to one side of the exterior... I dont know if your following what i'm saying but if u have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. my email is marylangkamp@yahoo.com
